From the Heart of Faerie Itself
Original pagan painting by Reiki Artist Beth Hansen
Originally created in 2004 as part of a series called the Seven Daily Sprites, the Faerie of the Green was then known as Friday Sprite. But faeries are mercurial creatures and have a will of their own. After moving to her new studio, the artist discovered that three of her favorite paintings had taken on a new life. In the Spring of 2020 The Faerie of the Green announced her intention. Sixteen years she has remained in the artist’s private collection, but she is ready to go out into the world now.
It’s so easy being green
Leaping among the leaves, this faerie smiles upon the green world before her. Her glimmering wings propel her along while her hair streams behind her. Filled with the magic of eternal Spring, this Faerie works in relation to all green growing things. This is an oil painting on an 11 x 14 inch hardboard panel, and has been varnished and is ready for framing.
The art of transformation
Since 2016 Beth has focused on painting the power of the sacred feminine in nature with her Nature Goddess Paintings. This painting was one of the keys that unlocked the door to a new path for the artist. Beth was transforming from painter to priestess, and the creative energy of Faerie Magic fueled the change.
With the intention of connecting to the green magic that powers the heart of Faerie itself, this intuitive work of art was begun on a Friday, or Freyja’s Day if you prefer. Using her brush as a magic wand, the shape of the faerie emerged from the oil paint. Astrology links colors to different days of the week, with green being the color associated with Friday. Using a limited palette of cool and warm greens, this Faerie brings the power of plant energy and growth.
